Page, who was also known as Betty, attracted national attention with magazine photographs of her sensuous figure in bikinis and see-through lingerie that were quickly tacked up on walls in military barracks, garages and elsewhere, where they remained for years.
Her photos included a centerfold in the January 1955 issue of then-fledgling Playboy magazine, as well as controversial sadomasochistic poses.
"I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society," Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told The Associated Press on Thursday. "She was a very dear person."

After decades and decades of wild nights, we hear Hef is calling it a day and that Playboy Enterprises has decided that this party and the upcoming annual Halloween party will be the last that the magazine mogul personally throws as a means to cut costs.
A rep from the men’s mag kept mum on the murmurs, saying: "Who knows what will happen in a year from now?"

AMANDA BEARD - NUDE AGAIN IN BEJING !

BEIJING (Aug. 6) - Olympic gold medalist swimmer Amanda Beard had to launch her naked, anti-fur campaign poster outside the Athletes' Village on Wednesday after Chinese authorities canceled a planned unveiling, citing safety concerns.

In a poster for the animal rights group PETA, the reigning 200-meter breaststroke champion appears naked in front of the U.S. flag and the slogan "Be comfortable in your own skin. Don't wear fur."

Jason Baker, an Asia-Pacific spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said the launch was "a bit more dramatic than we had planned" after Chinese security officials visited a hotel where an official news conference had been scheduled and shut down the event.
"From what I've been told from the hotel, the public security bureau showed up at midnight and told them our specific event had to be canceled for safety reasons, without going into any specifics," Baker said. "When I arrived at 8 a.m., there were public security officials in the press conference room we had booked.
"Amanda didn't want her voice to be silenced, so we went ahead and arranged something else - we never knew if we were going to be stopped at any point."
Baker said the protest was not against China and did not interfere with the Olympics. Police and security did not interfere with the event outside the village's south gate.
"It was a sexy ad really designed for the U.S. market. It was positive, and it was (supposed) to be done in a private function room," Baker said. "I'm surprised they were so concerned, given we've done similar with Asian celebrities in the past."
The 26-year-old Beard, who has posed nude in men's magazines, said she decided to participate in the PETA campaign because she loved animals and was horrified to see how fur was produced for fashion in some places.
"I have seen a lot of the videos, and (it) brings me to tears," the four-time Olympian was quoted saying in a PETA statement. "What (some people) think is pretty is actually something that's very gruesome and gross."

ASHLEY HARKLEROAD - SEXY TENNIS PLAYER

Ashley Harkleroad turned pro at age 15 and was quickly billed as the next American tennis superstar. Her career earnings are nearly a million dollars to date. She recently lost to Serena Williams at the French Open and in an exit interview with reporters, she shared the fact that she will soon be gracing the pages of Playboy magazine.

The Georgia born athlete posed for Playboy while she was recovering from surgery earlier this year. She told reporters that she is the first tennis player to appear in the magazine. You can check out Ashley in the August issue which hits newsstands on July 13.

The 23-year-old noted other athletes who have appeared in the magazine, including Olympic swimmer Amanda Beard and former volleyball player Gabrielle Reese. She told reporters:

I’ll be the first tennis player ever. That’s kind of cool. There’s a few reasons why I did it, but I can’t really go into it right now, but like I said, I really didn’t think it was that big of a deal. I’m proud of my body. I stay in shape and try to stay fit.”

Ava Fiore is a Playboy model and 2002 Golden Gloves champion boxer. She was arrested on Wednesday night on I 80 east in Kimball, Nebraska. Police found three large black suitcases filled with 60 pounds of marijuana in her car trunk. The street value is said to be $50,000.

The 27 year old is Spanish born and Orlando raised. She was introduced to boxing while attending aviation school in Daytona Beach. She was arraigned Friday on charges of marijuana possession with intent to deliver. She reportedly posted bail, which was set at $250,000.

HOW TO BECOME FAMOUS - "Kyla Ebbert"

23-year-old college student Kyla Ebbert is cashing in on her Southwest Airlines debacle and posing nude for Playboy magazine.

Kyla found herself in the middle of a media storm when she was pulled off a Southwest Airlines flight by an employee who thought her outfit was too revealing. After a few adjustments and some humiliation, Ebbert was allowed back on the flight and stayed covered under a blanket.

Wearing the tank top, sweater and miniskirt that almost got her booted off the flight, Kyla made television appearances on “The Today Show,” “The Ellen Degeneres Show” and “The Dr. Phil Show,” blasting the airline.

Ebbert wears even less for her debut on Playboy’s website in photo spread titled “Legs in the Air.”
