In a bizarre incident that will surely lead to litigation (or an out-of-court settlement), a skier at Colorado's ritzy Vail resort was left dangling upside down and pantsless from a chairlift last Thursday morning. The January 1 mishap apparently occurred after the male skier, 48, and a child boarded a high-speed lift in Vail's Blue Sky Basin. It appears that the chairlift's fold-down seat was somehow not in the lowered position, which caused the man to partially fall through the resulting gap. His right ski got jammed in the ascending chairlift, and that kept him upended since his boot never dislodged from its binding. As seen in the photos on the following pages (which were snapped by fellow skiers), the Skyline Express lift was stopped shortly after the pair's botched boarding resulted in the man dangling from the lift. The exposed skier was stuck for about 15 minutes before Vail personnel backed the lift up and successfully dislodged the unidentified man from the four-seat chair. In a statement released this afternoon, Vail Resorts, which operates the ski area, reported that the skier was not injured after being "suspended for approximately seven minutes." The press release did not explain how the mishap occurred, only that "the man was caught on the chair."

HOW TO SAVE THE AIRLINES ?

Dump the male flight attendants. No one wanted them in the first place.

Replace all the female flight attendants with good-looking strippers! What the hell, they don't even serve food anymore, so what's the loss?

The strippers would at least triple the alcohol sales and get a 'party atmosphere' going in the cabin. And, of course, every businessman in this count ry would start flying again, hoping to see naked women.

Because of the tips, female flight attendants wouldn't need a salary, thus saving even more money. I suspect tips would be so good that we could charge the women for working the plane and have them kick back 20% of the tips, including lap dances and 'special services.'

Muslims would be afraid to get on the planes for fear of seeing naked women. Hijackings would come to a screeching halt, and the airline industry would see record revenues.

This is definitely a win-win situation if we handle it right -- a golden opportunity to turn a liability into an asset.

Laure Manaudou is the Most Naked Olympian !

Laure Manaudou, once the golden girl of French swimming, says she plans to take a long break after the Beijing Olympics.

These Games have so far been desperately disappointing for the 21-year-old, the first French female swimmer to win Olympic gold when she captured the 400 metres freestyle title in Athens four years ago.

But in Beijing, the defence of her crown ended with Manaudou trailing in last in the 400m freestyle final, won by Britain's Rebecca Adlington, and then breaking down in tears.


"I don't know exactly what I am going to do (after the Olympics) but I am going to take a long break and think about something else," said Manaudou, who has endured a torrid year both in and out of the pool.

"For how long, I don't know. It could be one month, six months, a year. But I am definitely going to think about something else and spend more time with my family and friends, especially Esther (Baron, a swimmer who didn't qualify for the Games), who is not here.

She added: "I really want to see all those who are close to me and weren't able to be here with me."

Manaudou, who admitted she gave up in the 400m freestyle final, has seen her private life become a staple of French gossip columns.

In March she lost her 400m freestyle world record and European title to Federica Pellegrini - the 200m freestyle champion in Beijing - she also lost her swimmer boyfriend Luca Marin to her Italian rival.





Compromising images of Manaudou then emerged on the internet, with Italy's Marin denying suggestions he was responsible.


Laure Manaudou is a French swimmer and Olympic gold medalist. Apparently the story behind these is that Laure took these pictures for her former lover, an Italian swimmer named Luca Marin, and Marin is supposedly the person who leaked these on the Internet. So ... Laure is frighteningly muscular, she's a freak, she's fun.

For most people, the term "social network" means one of two things: Facebook or MySpace. But one Silicon Valley pioneer thinks the next name on the lips of the Web-surfing public will be his new site: Zivity.com.

Zivity operates differently from the Wal-Mart and Target of the social networking world in two ways: it charges members a subscription fee, and, oh yeah, it also features nude photos — lots of them.

But before you lump in Zivity with extremely popular online porn peddlers like Xtube and AdultFriendFinder, consider this: co-founder Scott Banister is already a Silicon Valley success, and his newest venture is being bankrolled by big-name venture capital.

But Zivity presents Banister with a unique challenge: Can he make money on a Web site whose simple nude photos are almost quaint compared to the raunchy sex images that drive traffic, and immense profits, on the Internet?

"We are believers, and so are our new investors, in this big shift that's going on in entertainment. … [MySpace] is actually the largest photography site in the world. What they have, uniquely, is all of this photographic content in the context of a social environment," Banister told ABCNews.com.

"It's a social network built around who took the photographs. We look at that and we see a huge opportunity to enter that same market, but with a subscription-only model."

Zivity.com works like this: potential users sign up for the site (currently invite only) and pay $10 monthly subscription fees to become members.

As with other social networking sites, members connect, making online friends. But unlike other social network users, members on Zivity find a plethora of photos of nude women in various "sexy" poses, upon which they get to vote for the ones they like best.

Members join to make online friends and gain access to the nude photos. Photographers and models post their photos online to possibly earn money.

Members get five votes per month, and the models and their photographers get paid based on the number of votes they get. There is a waiting list of 30,000 members. Bannister said that because the models are paid, the company has tax information that proves all are at least 19.

Fees Make It Ad-Free

The subscription model allows the service to avoid advertisers. From Banister's viewpoint, the absence of ads gives users the freedom to post nude photos and the confidence that their information will never be leveraged for profit.

"The key advantage is that you no longer have to answer to the advertisers. MySpace has a big department of people to police MySpace ... for nudity," Banister said.

"When you're 100 percent supported by advertisers you're kind of in a strait jacket. We're trying to create a social network environment that doesn't have to play into that strait jacket. … We've sent the advertisers packing."

Supermodel Gisele Bündchen, the girlfriend of New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady, had previously said, "If the Pats lose, I'll run naked through Mid-Town Manhattan." Of course now that the Patriots have indeed lost, Gisele is trying to renege on her promise.

According to CBS Sports, she's backing down not because of a fear of being naked in public, but rather, the logistics of such a stunt.

"It was a mistake and I'm sorry I said it. I don't know what I could have been thinking -- Midtown Manhattan is a parking lot any time of day or night. It'd take 30 minutes just to make it from the Theater District to 34th Street. And what if I ran into the Naked Cowboy and had to pose for pictures with every out-of-town Tom, Dick and Harry? Tack on another 30 minutes, easily. How 'bout I simply flashed my breasts from a billboard in Times Square and call it a day ... will that work?"
