There's only one way to have this Whopper - no cheese and heavy on the wax.
Burger King's signature sandwich was put on the menu at Times Square's Madame Tussauds museum Thursday, making it the first food item ever immortalized in wax. After taking a mock bite out of the lifelike burger, Spanish tourist Arturo Diaz inspected the hamburger patty with all the trimmings - and was impressed by what he saw.
"It looks quite real," he said. "It's amazing."
The Whopper, complete with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, mayo and ketchup, is presented on a silver platter by a wax version of the Burger King himself. Power 105 host Ed Lover unveiled the flame-broiled icon yesterday, calling the Burger "King" his "hero and idol."
"Even suckas from McDonald's call him sire," he said.
The Whopper found a home in the museum after Burger King reps contacted Madame Tussauds earlier this year, looking for a special way to celebrate the sandwich's 50-year anniversary.
